| The Academic Programs at the Pantheon Center |
The Pantheon Center offers a general studies program designed to meet the needs of a diverse group of students from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. At the core of the academic program is our desire to maximize the opportunities for exploration and study in the greater city of Rome. Each semester we offer a selection of courses that put Rome at the forefront, and on-site learning plays a fundamental part in our curriculum. Whether it's a trip to one of Rome's many art museums, an architectural romp through the Roman Forum, or a day spent perusing volumes in the Vatican library, students at the Pantheon Center engage in daily interactions with the city's pervasive legacy. By encountering different aspects of the Roman existence, students reap untold benefits from the voluminous treasures that abound throughout the city.
Courses at the Pantheon Center are taught in the American liberal arts tradition and follow a semester calendar with a 15-week fall session, a 15-week spring session, and a 4-week summer session in June.
Most students attend the Center for one semester, but year-long study is also available. With the exception of Italian language courses, all instruction is in English. No prior study of Italian is required, but all students must enroll in an Italian course at their appropriate level as a part of their study at the Center. Fall and spring students enroll for 13-16 credits, including a 4-credit Italian language course. Part-time study is not permitted during the semester.
To supplement the general studies program, the Center also offers an Independent Research track and Honors Courses for ambitious students who seek to further challenge themselves.
For the summer session, students may enroll in 3-6 credits. Enrollment in an Italian language course is not mandatory to participate in the summer program.
