Course description

The objective of the course is to introduce the students to the basic structures of the Italian language to operate in practical daily life situations. The emphasis is on speaking and understanding both the spoken and written word. The students will also learn how to describe people and places, talk about their family and home, their daily routine (past and present), and their likes and dislikes. They will also begin to use in writing the grammatical structures and vocabulary that they will be acquiring in class.

Course Outcomes and Objectives

At the end of the semester, students should reach the level A2 of the Common European Framework in the four basic competencies in Italian: listening, speaking and interacting, reading, and writing and have a acquired a deep understanding of Italian culture, society and everyday life that has evolved from the millennia of history and tradition in modern Rome.
