Instructor of Italian for foreigners in five different levels, conducting the classes entirely in Italian, using role play, games, audio-video material, films and newspaper articles.

Teaching Philosophy

I have taught all levels (introductory to advanced) of Italian Language courses without interruption, since 1994, mostly dedicated to make students grasp all the features of a new language and every-day culture – especially to learn new ways of thinking and changing cultural points of views that bring a new enriching perspective toward themselves and the world.

I love sharing my knowledge of Italian Culture in “Italian Studies” and communicating my enthusiasm for a topic that can be hard to understand for students who do not live within the borders of the European Union.

What Students Need to Bring to the Study Abroad Experience

Their enthusiasm to learn with a wide open mind from a new experience, and their effort to improve and build a critical thinking.

Favorite Teaching Moments

When I see evidence of learning and assessment:

– development of projects that are thoughtful, original and creative;

– active and verbal participation in class activities and critiques;

– evaluating areas of personal challenge/effort in project development;

but most of all when I get direct feedback from the students that they feel they expanded their range of knowledge and that their memories of the experience in Italy will stay with them for life.
