Living expenses can vary greatly from student to student depending on spending habits. Expenses such as local travel, eating out, social activities, and nightlife should all be taken into consideration. Past study abroad students have estimated that $40.00 per day is sufficient for everything – transportation, all activities, etc. (including optional tours).
To avoid traveling with large bills or travelers’ cheques, which are difficult to process, students can plan to use ATMs located throughout the city regularly. Check with your bank to ensure your card works on European circuits, and whether you need a 4-digit PIN. Students should not carry large amounts of cash, and it is recommended that all participants bring a credit card in case of emergency.
